CROATIA

CROATIA

Croatia – one more amazing Balkan country with an astonishing coastline. Mixture of Venetian and Roman empire culture in combination with a Balkan taste as a result of taking part in ex-Yugoslavia. Despite having many beautiful spots within the countryside, I would emphasize its seaside, especially islands. Croatia has a very rugged coastline with many inhabited islands that are famous tourist attractions. Until now I have visited many of them, but one creates a special spark in my heart when I visit it. That is Korčula island. Korčula is well connected to the Croatian mainland and Dalmatian coast. There are various options to reach the Island  (buses, ferries...). It is a well known destination to visit in Croatia, but it’s not as busy or overcrowded as other Croatian islands.

Home to ancient sites, stunning coastline, local wineries, the birthplace of Marco Polo, it’s easy to understand why so many tourists choose to visit Korčula on their Croatia tour. Visiting local sights, beautiful buildings, small squares and monuments in medieval Old town are one of the most interesting things to do in Korčula. Moreover, Korčula has the best cultural background, and the best food and wine experiences of all the Croatian islands. I recommend spending at least three days in Korčula because there’s so much to do. Walking, swimming, riding a bicycle along the beautiful coastline...amazing! Spending a week would be fantastic, especially if you include day trips to nearby Mljet or Pelješac.

I also have to mention that many famous Croatian singers were born in Korčula which gives it special spark when it comes to music culture...

All in all, Croatia is an amazing combination of beautiful sea, wine, music and sun that the main reasons for visiting this astonishing place!
